We started scraping the old paint on the garage doors a few weeks ago and found several bad "rotty" spots. Our doors are heavy wooden doors that requires painting about every other year. As you can see below they were sad looking....

Mr. Fred had the "friends" of his all over his porch....
this guy looked a little "shady" so I sat down & talked

with this lady.......well, I talked & she was a great listener!I want to make one of these for some reason....Oh, when we got back in

the car to leave Mr. Fred had all his friends fixed so they waved at you.

He had each of them connected to a string that he could

operate from his "counter". Yes....I waved back too!

We had a great time in Helen,Ga last weekend with the Millers! I had been through there about 20 yrs ago. It was rainy & chilly on Friday. We got out and tubed the Chattahoochee River. It was alot of fun. We rode around in the Uncoi state park. The place we stayed at was great. Click here to check it out!

I have found the most greatest way to put up corn! Shuck & slik it, place large cobbs on the lower rack & smaller cobbs on the top rack of your.....(drumroll) DISHWASHER!!!! Hit the regular cycle button, when the cycle is complete open the door to racks completely cool. Just wonderful I tell you! WON-DER-FUL!

1 10in iron skillet

1 yellow cake mix

1 can pineapple slices (drain & save juice)

(cherries optional)

3/4 c. brown sugar

1/2 stick butter

Melt butter in your skillet w/ brown sugar. Once sugar is dissolved position pineapple slices. Mix cake mix according to the box replacing water w/ pineapple juice. Pour cake mix over pineapple slices & sugar mixture. Cook @ 325 until toothpick comes test clean. Plate it up & Enjoy!

Jeff has told me a million tales about his Nanny Gladys,Uncle Bud & how he loves to hear his Aunt Janice talk......We finally took time to make a trip! We also got to see Christy & Pam's family too! They had a wonderful spread of BBQ & all the extras! The only thing it was just too short of a visit! ......and I was so excited I forgot my dang camera in the truck! =( I snapped a bunch at Uncle Bud's for you to see. He has the neatest shop for his hot rods! I think he's one cool cat!

I love these old oil cans he had in his garage. I thought they were so colorful! Thanks Uncle Bud & all the gang for having us! Hope to see you again soon!

We had a great time on the Santee river inSouth Carolina. I got to tag along with Jeff & Hamp on their fishing trip. I had a ball! This river has tons of the "swamp trees" with the moss hanging from them. I love the Cypress trees it was so pretty. We caught some crappie and Alligator gars! Yikes!

I was plundering in my deep freeze this weekend, when I came across a bag of dried apples. So I thought I just put them suckers on to boil for a while.....I didn't time to measure Nothing.....Nothing I tell you!

Jeff makes fun of me from time to time when I comment on something....I'll say that sure is pretty produce, or that sure is pretty dirt.....on & on!

Well, that sure is a pretty PIE!

It just so happens my nephew came in the door about the time it was coming out of the oven! Being his number savvy self he is he rated it a "8".....hmmmmm I couldn't do it again in 100 years!

I just love it! My husband has become very handy! He's "heck" w/ a caulk gun I tell you! This was my mothers bed, We cleaned out our spare room tore out the carpet & we went to painting! I looks great! Now, what's next to be painted? I better give him a small break for now! =D

We had a great Thanksgiving. We went to mothers, had too much to eat as always. I loved it but my favorite part was the Wii .....That was the funniest thing ever! We all took our turn to do our best at bowling,dancing & baseball! It was so fun!

On another note....I lost my mother Dec.21,2010....less than a month after these pictures were taken.

Here comes Amos on the Zip Line!!

They're pulling me up for the swing!

I love the Life Quest Park. It's in Guntersville just over the big river bridge. They have 4 zip lines a giant swing! Two of the zips & the swing takes you out over the Guntersville Lake! My friend Amy & her boys met up the end of July to give this a try.....I know Jeff got tired of me talking about this for days!!! Did I say I loved it! This was the first time they opened up to the public. It was Moonlight Madness! YES! at night!!....it was from 8-12 p.m., we was this first group thru we walked outta there about 10:30 p.m. It was so hot that night ..No air was stirring!!! I have always love, love, loved these old vintage metal porch sets!

We where down at my Sis-in-laws Kathy house, last summer

when I viewed it from afar.....

It was the color of a melted Hersey bar,

a good o'faded brown!

I shrieked to the top of my lungs!

It was just beautiful sitting there....

Then she told me the tale about it.

She has rental property and got the

whole set glider w/2 chairs for lovely $15.00!!!

That's $5. apiece......OH-ME!

She told us to load it up & bring it home.

Jeff can tell you he hasn't had a moment of peace

until we got it home.

We had it sand blasted.

Jeff painted it a

beautiful coat of crispy white!!

I added some thrift store pillows

Well, Cocoa's dog food is in the mower barn next to the air compressor. So, the last few times I've gone to feed that sweet girl I've had to "DUCK" cause of a low flying "747" airplane coming outta there! It turns out it's a healthy moma dove! She's made a nest in a vegetable basket on the top shelf w/ my flower pots! I love to look at birds nest & see what all the moma's used to build it. I have seen hair from a horses tail to tiny colorful fiber optic wires! This was weird to me, very flat & bigger twigs than you would've thought off! But, she did take advantage of a pair of my neon orange work gloves that was in the bottom of the basket also! Can't blame her for that one!

We slipped off with the Colvin's for our Christmas'n last nite. We had a great supper at Santa Fe, as always ate way too much! It was very busy folks going & coming. I did get a pleasant surprise while we we're eating that I must tell you about....This little lady came by & said excuse me? Are you "HAPPY IN HORTON"? I said OH?Gosh?..Ah..Yes, I am! She went on & told that she enjoyed reading my blog! I'm a firm believer in Random Acts of Kindness! (google it for yourself). I think we are very quick to be grumpy/complain. We should ALSO be just as quick to smile or to compliment someone to make their day! I say this cause she took the time to tell me she liked reading my blog. She also went on to say she'd graduated high school w/ my sister in law Judy! I remember her sweet smile & she had on a pretty silver angel pin too!

SHRIMP FEST. 2009

We got to Gulf Shores around 10 on last Tues. night. It was so Hot. We had a great time & way too much food! If you get a chance when your down that way you MUST eat at the TIN TOP! I repeat you need to eat here! We all got something different & passed around plates as if we was the Walton's instead of the Winfrey's! I will also add Jake was on "clean-up" duty! He finished off any crumb that was left! Me & Judy tore out all over Baldwin Co. on Wed. cause the men went fishing! At least that's what they said they did, I think they gave it a good try! We hit every thrift store from Gulf Shores to Fair Hope! Thurs. was time for the fest. to start & also the night for the TIP-TOPS they are a very exciting great band from Mobile. We love to watch them! The heat index for that day was 90 something, you couldn't hide from the heat nowhere! When the boys was fishing, being the people watcher I am I spotted this little man w/ these nets and chicken legs (yes, chicken legs) He was crabbing! Well early Fri. I got me some nets & my own chicken legs. After alot of "poking" from Jeff we tore out back to the bay. We caught about 10 or so I LOVED IT! Guess who liked the crab nets after that? Mr. Jeff! We yardsaled Sat. until we couldn't anymore cause we run outta energy & room in the car! We was packed! We got back in time to go to the Miller's condo for the Bama game! We had a great trip Judy's son Adam got to join us this year along w/ Jake, Tyler & Jennifer!

We got to make a unexpected trip down to T-town for a couple of nights for the Arkansas game. We stayed in the motor home w/ Bobby M. It rained cats & hound dogs only to stop a few min's before kick off! Here are a few of my pic's I'd like to share with you!

We tried to gt him good a couple of Sat. ago w/ a little surprise party. I think it turned out very well! Everyone "cut-a-rusty" as Granny would put it! We had way too much to eat as usual! It was just a good enough reason as any being Jeff's birthday to call in all his buddies! Him & Dylan did alot of karaoke singing! Dylan did his version of "Chicken Fried" also! Everyone loved hearing Doc & Emily sing too! His birthday is today, but w/ college football getting started up we had to back up & punt. This is his favorite time of the year. So we just backed it up a Sat. or so.....

These are our Angel Trumpet trees! Granny's is a pinky-peach color & mine in a dwarf dark purple in the top picture. Granny's is over 5ft tall & mine maybe a foot at the most, very small!

Turtle & Fish Traps

Well, things can get ugly when you let Jeff & Hamp go off to town together! They came home w/ 2 traps for the pond! Them pesky turtles have been eating Granny's bait & that's not good! These 2 love to go check the traps & see what they have, so far they have 7, counting the one Mr. Bill hooked w/ his rod! My contribution to this project is the pigs feet for bait. You can never go wrong w/ pigs feet as bait! =)

~Last Friday night I took mother to her 50th class reunion! The house was full of folks from

as far as California. Some was there who had never been to one before! The count was about 144 outta about 200 classmates. The food was good & lots of entertainment. She went w/ one of her friends on Sat. to the Golden Oldies reunion, it was for anyone from 1959 class & older. She said about 450-500 showed up for that one!

When we was coming home late Saturday eve. from the amish tour. We passed by Granny's & I told Jeff she's at the pond. Imagine that! By the time we get to our drive & beginning to unload, I saw a little "black dart" coming across the dam of the pond. I told Mrs. Miller "OH Granny has got something going on!" My poor Cocoa probly had her claws dug into the bed of Paw-paw's truck cause Granny is HAULING IT! By this time Jeff is watching her we knew she'd got a big one or a turtle! When she caught her breath & Cocoa got the bugs outta her teeth! This is what she had a 5lb 11oz catfish! She wrestled him in & put in the fish basket for Jeff to clean!

Cutting hay..

... gathering the hay, this is a half load too!

We took of Saturday morning on a Amish tour w/ the Miller's to Ethridge,Tn.
Mr. Miller done a fine job navigating us through the country considering he had a faulty map reader. (me) Most everyone was busy working in the fields cutting hay or gathering vegetables to sell. We'd been in big trouble if we'd drove a truck when we got to the family that made swings & gliders! They we're so pretty made from heavy cypress. It was something to see.

Uncle Melvin & Aunt Eugenia is always spoiling us! I love to go up the their house & see what he's gathered outta the garden & going to the market ! He brought us home this huge "yellow meated" watermelon. I was so excited, I love watermelon for breakfast & any other part of the day! I was jumping in the mule to come home when he yelled to dry the seeds & He'd grow me some next year! You can't beat that with a stick!

We've picked few bushels this weekend & got it all worked up. Below Jefferson is silking it for me, he's a good corn silker!

She's for real ! You know when you was little & you met one of your life long best friends? You can't really remember if it was at the coat closest at school or if she lived next to your Nanny's? Well here she is....This is Tina from Cherry Hill Cottage ! I can't remember how we ran up on her while we were prowling around some blogs, I can tell you this much I screamed when I spotted her pretty Christmas bed! I love it! You can also she her little "wee-weiner" dog who found the chip bag! :-) Here at work my partner in junkin' crime Deb & myself we have to check her site out daily! We'll say "oh gosh" go to Cherry Hill she's been cookin' or doodlin' up her porch! We'll....to make a long story short Deb ran across a few pieces of dishes that had a cute cherry design on them & we emailed her & she's real & she replied today! We figured she was to busy maybe getting ready to go on Oprah or Regis & Kelly. Well, we're gona box them up & get'em in the mail and hope she loves them!

We slipped off around sun rise this morning & did a little crappie fishing. The weather was wonderful. We brought home about a dozen or so of the beauties. Jeff cleaned them & we'll have a little fish tomorrow for lunch! YUM-OLA

I SEARCHED HIGH & LOW FOR A "TUB" TO GIVE HER THE WASHING SHE NEEDEDAH-HA!!! I FOUND IT! YOU PULL THE "MULE" OFF THE PAVEMENT SO THE WATER WILL GATHER AT THE FRONT OF THE BED. SHE STILL DOESN'T HAVE A CLUE AT THIS POINT.

THEN YOU TELL HER TO "LOAD UP",

FOR THE RECORD SHE KNOWS NOW!

I SCRUBBED HER FROM ONE END .......

TO THE OTHER!!!!

AND YOU GUESSED IT........SHE RAN ALL OVER THE YARD & ROLLED IN THE GRASS THEN TOOK ABOUT A 2 HOUR NAP ON HER GRANNY'S PORCH!~

Ok folks! Today on the Crafty Cat Show we're gona make a beautiful

chalk board. You'll need a frame in the size of your choice.

Mine, above is a old rough barn wood.

Then you'll need to find a "slick" sided piece of wood. This is what you'll spray w/ the chalkboard paint that you'll get at your local "Wal-Mark's" it'll take 3-4 good coats. More the merrier!

Once your coats are dried good place your chalk board in it's frame like so above!
This is it folks! Now, you can write your husband a sweet note or just doodle anything you want, just try to make it sweet & pretty. Hope you enjoyed it!

I have a new love....CAMPING!

We got to Cades Cove Campground around lunch on Fri. to kick off our camping weekend! George & Georgette has had to put up w/ me & Jeff for 2 nights/3 days. I know their nerves are shot! We had a great time. We was constantly into something! I was on a mission to see a bear & I got to see 1 very far off,1 very CLOSE up & 1 up a tree! Deer was everywhere, even little spotted babies too! Lots & lots of turkeys! I probably fed 2 squirrels a box of Cheese-Nips, they are probably trying to find me as we speak! I am very proud to say I biked that dang 11 mile loop w/ George! We started at 5:57 a.m. it took 1hr 45 min., click here to read more about that! (note the word "grueling" in the 2nd paragraph!) The campgrounds was clean & neat. It was very quite & still at night,dark also! I loved cooking over a fire as much as George loves to build fires! We couldn't ordered any better weather, it was cool with a good little "nip" in the air! I can't wait to go back, maybe we'll float down the creek!

in from vacation. She way too little for me right now. She's almost a month old

The Healing Springs Blackville, Sc

~this is a little piece I pasted about the springs. Artesian wells supply legendary mineral waters to pilgrims seeking help for all kinds of ailments. Historical accounts and legend date the springs back to pre-European era when Indians considered the waters sacred and bathed in them for healing when sick or hurt. Tradition relates that during the American Revolution, four mortally wounded British soldiers were left here in the care of two able bodied men until they died and were buried. Six months later, all six returned to their garrison in Charleston, further perpetuating the springs' legend for healing.

Hamp took us by the springs & as always Jeff says I find someone to talk to. Well, here is a little fella that I met! His name is Mr. Atterburry he liked me taking pictures & wanted me to take his & he had to check to see the camera & sure he looked good! Before we was able to leave he ask me to take one of him & how good he could run! He was at the springs filling up water bottles w/ what looked like maybe his grandaddy & daddy~
