MOTHER IN-LAWS BIRTHDAY GIFTS ARE BEST

MOTHER HAD US UP SUNDAY & COOKED LUNCH FOR JEFF TO CELEBRATE HIS BIRTHDAY. WE HAD CHICKEN CASSEROLE, FRIED POTATOES, PEAS & CORNBREAD! IT WAS YUMMY! IT WAS NOT ONLY GREAT FOOD, BUT ALSO GREAT GIFTS! HE SAID SINCE HE WAS ONE OF A KIND, THAT IS WHY HE GETS ONLY ONE OF A KIND GIFTS! SHE GOT HIM A ALABAMA CRIMSON TIDE DOORBELL, ALABAMA CHRISTMAS ORN. & A ALABAMA "TIN" MAN! FOR SOME STRANGE REASON I FIND THE MAN DISTURBING! HEHAHE ! ~ AUNT EUGENIA ALSO MADE HIM HIS FAVORITE PEANUT BUTTER CAKE & IT WAS WONDERFUL AS ALWAYS!

~CRACKPOT FRIENDS~

~THIS IS FROM ONE OF MY MOST TREASURED "CRACK POT" FRIENDS I HOPE IT MAKES YOU DAY AS IT DID MINE ;)

An elderly Chinese woman had two large pots, each hung on the ends of a pole which she carried across her neck. One of the pots had a crack in it while the other pot was perfect and always delivered a full portion of water. At the end of the long walks from the stream to the house, the cracked pot arrived only half full. For a full two years this went on daily, with the woman bringing home only one and a half pots of water. Of course, the perfect pot was proud of its accomplishments. But the poor cracked pot was ashamed of its own imperfection, and miserable that it could only do half of what it had been made to do. After two years of what it perceived to be bitter failure, it spoke to the woman one day by the stream. 'I am ashamed of myself, because this crack in my side causes water to leak out all the way back to your house.' The old woman smiled, 'Did you notice that there are flowers on your side of the path, but not on the other pot's side?' 'That's because I have always known about your flaw, so I planted flower seeds on your side of the path, and every day while we walk back, you water them.' 'For two years I have been able to pick these beautiful flowers to decorate the table. Without you being just the way you are, there would not be this beauty to grace the house.' Each of us has our own unique flaw. But it's the cracks and flaws we each have that make our lives together so very interesting and rewarding. You've just got to take each person for what they are and look for the good in them. SO, to all of my crackpot friends, have a great day and remember to smell the flowers on your side of the path!

I WOULD BET THIS LITTLE GIRL WORKED & WORKED TO DO EVERYTHING JUST RIGHT TO BE ONLY PUSHED ASIDE AT THE LAST MINUTE CAUSE SHE WASN'T "CUTE" ENOUGH OR APPEARED A LITTLE NERVOUS ON STAGE! HECK ! FLIPPIN' ELVIS WOULD HAVE BEEN A LIL' NERVOUS I MEAN THE ~WHOLE~ WORLD IS WATCHING YOU FOR THEM 3-4 min's I JUST HOPE SOMEONE HUGGED THIS LITTLE GIRL & TOLD HOW GOOD SHE DID INSPITE OF THE IGNORANT ADULT WHO MADE THE DECISION TO DO THIS!! ~there now i feel better i'm off my soap-box until next time!! :)

farewell to the fisherman!

Dylan came home with us from our 4th of July vacation & fishing trip w/ Judy & Hamp & he has fished almost everyday since then if the heat would allow it! He also went home w/ 2 turtles (sorry y'all) they were the smallest ones it could've been worse! :) He was Cocoa's personal trainer He put her thru the "ringer" most evenings. He's been a lady's man also, he went off to Lake Guntersville w/ Kathy & Jerry & a little gal from New York. Then later on He danced w/ the cutie from Belgium at Aunt Eugenia & Uncle Melvin's 50th ann. party!! Even though he said He wasn't a cowboy he went w/ Aunt Kathy to "cowboy church" & to her place down on the Lake. He's been my guinea pig on trying new dishes. He didn't like the Alabama caviar or the spinach & vegetables medley! (hehae) I did win him over on the Elvis Presley banana sandwich & the pork & beans w/ hamburger meat! I tried to enroll him here at Douglas & he said "My mom will have a fit" (hehahe) We were just picking at you! We love you D-butter & can't wait till next summer! :)

50th WEDDING ANNIVERSARY

WE HAD SO MUCH FUN SATURDAY NIGHT ! UNCLE MELVIN & AUNT EUGENIA CELEBRATED THEIR 50 GOLDEN WEDDING ANNIVERSARY THEIR WAS A YARD FULL OF MOSTLY FAMILY & OF COURSE TONS OF FRIENDS & GREAT FOOD!! WE HAD THE BEST TIME WATCHING GRANNY ON THE DANCE FLOOR. I ENJOYED MEETING EDEL & HER FAMILY. EDEL IS A EXCHANGE STUDENT FROM BELGIUM THAT STAYED W/ MELVIN & EUGENIA & THE GIRLS WHILE THEY WERE IN HIGH SCHOOL.

11 pound catfish!!

GOOD OL' LONNIE CAME BY FRIDAY EVE. TO FISH A WHILE, HE CAUGHT THIS 11 POUNDER ON A NIGHT CRAWLER WORM! SO.... FAR I'M STILL THE CATFISH QUEEN, I WILL ALWAYS BE SHORT IN THE BREAM RACE WHEN COMPARED TO GRANNY THE BREAM QUEEN !!

SUMMER TOMATO PIE

1 PIE SHELL

6-7 HOME-GROWN TOMATOES

1 SWEET VIDALIA ONION

1 1/2 CUP MOZZARELLA CHEESE

1 CUP MAYO

~BROWN PIE CRUST FOR ABOUT 5 MINUTES. LET COOL

PEEL & CUT TOMATOES IN FAIRLY LARGE SLICES. USE A SPOON OR HANDS TO PUSH OUT THE WATER/JUICE & SEEDS OF THE TOMATO. YOU WANT JUST THE "MEAT' OF THE TOMATO. PLACE ON PAPER TOWEL TO ABSORB ANY MORE JUICE. YOUR PIE COULD ME "MUSHY" IF YOU DON'T DO THIS, CUT ONIONS INTO PAPER THIN SLICES. PUT THEM IN A BOWL & MICROWAVE 7-8 MIN'S UNTIL CLEAR & LIMP. PLACE A LAYER TOMATOES THEN ONIONS THEN MORE TOMATOES & ONIONS. MIX CHEESE & MAYO. & SPREAD ACROSS THE TOP EVENLY. COOK 350 DEGREES UNTIL CHEESE IS GOOD & BROWN. THIS IS USUALLY ABOUT 10 MINS. COOL ABOUT 5 MIN. & ENJOY!

~I'M VERY THANKFUL FOR ALL OF UNCLE MELVIN'S HARD WORK & KIND HEART! HE ZIPS UP & DOWN THE ROAD GOING FROM ONE GARDEN SPOT TO ANOTHER. HE'S HAD CORN, TOMATOES, SQUASH, NEW POTATOES & BEST OF ALL PINK-EYED PURPLE HULL PEAS!! MY NEPHEW JAKE PICKED ME A TUB FULL OF PEAS TODAY FROM THEIR GARDEN. OH BOY, ARE THEY PRETTY!! HE DID "BARGAIN" ME FOR A GARLIC CHEESE BALL, I FELT I GOT THE BETTER END OF THE DEAL SINCE THE TEMPERATURE HIT ALMOST 100 TODAY! :o)

I've been waiting patiently on my sunflower faces to show up & I opened the blinds yesterday morning & TA-DA!!! *the bumble bees loves'em too!

i chopped it off....

I broke down & did it!! I chopped off my hair today! I've tried for a while now to let it grow. It just wasn't meant to be for me to have long flowy hair! So, just look what i did! ...oh well i'll get use to it or it'll grow....maybe?

BIG BASS !!

A buddy of Jeff's pulled in this big ol' bass while we was gone, him & granny had to "measure" it & said it was around 8 lbs & granny said it was over 4 boards wide!!!

hamp's harvest

~we came home w/ plenty of vegetables here is just a sample of Judy & Hamp's garden! I love home grown tomatoes!! (yummy) Also them weeds better give up cause Hamp isn't giving in to them! Nope! Not yet!

~HAPPY 4th of JULY~

We've just got home from a overdue vacation! It was GREAT !! We spent most of the 4th of July week at Judy & Hamp's in Barnwell, S.C. Hamp had got together a couple of fishing trips for him & Jeff. Thursday the trip was at Santee for bass fishing w/ Mr. Inky (mr. icky? ;) Jeff came back telling about alligators & the swamps. The next trip was Saturday on Lake Murray for a day of stripe fishing. They had the best time & a tons of fish tales to tell before they settled in for their naps! As for me an Judy we conducted a full inspection of the pool & made sure it was in great working order by soaking in it for a couple of days, it passed the inspection! Jeff drove us over to Akin one day for a little shopping they have all kinds of good little shops & pretty flowers too! We stopped on the way home & picked up Dylan he's gonna stay w/ us for the rest of July.

this is one of the paw-paw turtles we've been trying to catch at the pond, Jeff finally got a hold of him & we have since relocated him to a better place..........;o)

WELL, I AM PROUD TO ADMIT THAT WE ARE TO A GRAND TOTAL OF 25 TURTLES THAT WE HAVE CAUGHT IN THE TRAP. IT'S AMAZING WHAT YOU CAN DO WITH 2 WEEK OLD ROTTEN FISH PARTS!! WHEN WE CHECKED IT THIS EVENING WE HAD 10 TURTLES & THIS A TRAP RECORD SO FAR! PLEASE STAY TUNED FOR MORE TURTLE TALK WITH JILL :0)

I'm very proud of my dinner plate dahlias! This is their 1st year & I hope they'll just grow & get better with each year to come!!

OH ME!! JEFF CAME REAL CLOSE THIS EVE. TO BREAKING THE POND CATFISH RECORD! I MUST TRY TO DO BETTER TO MAINTAIN MY REIGN AS "CATFISH QUEEN". WE WEIGHED IT W/ 2 DIFFERENT SCALES AND IT WAS 11.8 LBS. HE GOT PRETTY CLOSE TO MY 14.5 LBS FROM 2007. YOU SHOULD HAVE SEEN THE WORK THAT WAS PUT INTO GETTING THE FISH IN, GRANNY TIMED IT! 18 min.'s TO BE EXACT! I WAS THE ASSISTING"NET" GIRL ;)
