We went to the races the first of Oct. and in Helen's flowerbed she had a small "clump" hot pink verbena. Well, it has showed out & quadrupled in size!! It has almost smothered her little concrete rabbit that is peeping out on the other side! I just thought you'd like to see this!!

Sunny had said in a post she couldn't live w/o her Ped Egg, to make a long story short I battled w/ buying it, I picked up to only put it back.... on & on!! Sooooo

after I got it ,looking at the directions an all that I got tickled! I was wondering how I could explain this to the ER doctor! It truly looks like a small cheese grater I will admit. I did "grit" my teeth & close one eye in the beginning. I LOVE IT! I just LOVE it! I want to go on tour & spread the word & do just random folks feet for them !! It's gross but true!

SHRIMP FESTIVAL '08

I'M TRYING TO GET CAUGHT UP FROM A GREAT VACATION! IT DON'T LOOK LIKE I'M MAKING ANY PROGRESS, BUT IT WAS WELL WORTH IT ALL!! IT WAS SO NICE EVERYDAY, ME & JEFF GOT OUT A COUPLE OF MORNINGS EARLY PICKED UP SEASHELLS! THEY WERE EVERYWHERE I FOUND 2 PERFECT SAND DOLLARS TOO!
THE FESTIVAL WAS SO FUN BESIDES THE VENDORS, A BAND WAS ALWAYS SINGING ON ONE OF THE TWO STAGES. OUR FAVORITE IS ON THURS. NIGHT "TIP TOPS". WE SHOPPED A LITTLE, ATE ALOT! THE MILLERS GOT THERE FRI. EVE. & WE WERE ABLE TO SEE THEM & WATCH A FOOTBALL GAME OR TWO! WE BOILED PEANUTS & ATE ON THEM MOST OF THE WEEK! WE WAS ABLE TO GO TO BAHAMA BOB'S ON TUES NIGHT, THEY HAVE THE BEST FISH! WE GOT THE PECAN CRUSTED PANGA!! YUM-O!!

Let's go racing!!!!!!!!

It was a rowdy weekend for the races at T'dega!! It was exciting up until the last checkered flag dropped & Tony Stewart won!!! We always have so much fun! We love to hang out at Kathy's on the lake! It's always quite & peaceful there, well until that Jerry gets cranked up ! He probably would say that about me too! :) HEHAHE !

~HOMESTEAD HOLLOW~

Jeff treated me & stopped by Homestead Hollow on the way to T'dega for the races! I love to go an look at the crafts. We also sneaked us in a fried pie. I got sweet pot. & He got apple! They were so good! You couldn't ordered any better weather for the day if you tried to!

CANNED APPLE PIE FILLING

~My mother made this several years ago I think it's a good idea for my fellow apple hackers! It's time to take advantage of all those apples. With this easy recipe you can have a homemade apple pie in about 20 mins! Just pop the jar & grab your pie shell (FYI= i copied this from "little house" on my blog roll cause we couldn't find mothers copy. Please see their blog & go to "canning" & you can view more helpful pic's about this :)

Ingredients:

4 1/2 cups white sugar

1 Cup cornstarch

2 tsp. ground cinnamon

1/4 tsp. ground nutmeg

2 teaspoons salt

10 cups water

3 T. lemon juice

6 pounds apples

Directions:

1. In a large pan, mix sugar, cornstarch, cinnamon and nutmeg. Add salt and water and mix well. Bring to a boil and cook until thick and bubbly. Remove from heat and add lemon juice.2. Sterilize canning jars, lids and rings by boiling them in a large pot of water.3. Peel, core, and slice apples. Pack the sliced apples into hot canning jars, leaving a 3/4 inch head space.4. Fill jars with hot syrup and gently remove air bubbles with a plastic knife (metal may promote cracks in the jars).5. Put lids on and process in a water bath canner for 20 minutes.

RECIPE ROUND-UP ......YE-HAW

OVEN - ROASTED VEGETABLES

2-3 med sweet potatoes

2 med. onions (yellow/red)

1 lg. green bell pepper

1 lg. red bell pepper

whole/sliced mushrooms

cloves of garlic

baby carrots

cherry tomato

2 Tbs olive oil

1 Tb Italian spice

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Cut/peel potatoes into 1 inch pieces. Cut onions into 1/2 inch wedges. Cut peppers into 1 inch pieces. Peel garlic cloves. In roasting pan, toss vegetables with oil and herbs until coated good. Roast 30-45mins until potatoes tender, stirring occasionally.

~This is Helen's fall decorations! We scattered & piddled all day Sunday and this is what we came up with, we hope you like it! This is the second year she has entered the Boaz Harvest Festival yard contest, last year she placed 3rd! :)

The night the lights went out in Georgia!

What a Game!!! It was Great!! We sent them ol' DAWGS to the pound w/ their black jersey's!!! Alabama tore them up! The final score was 41-30! We always have a great time w/ the Miller's, you can't beat a good football game & wonderful friends! Thanks George & Georgette for putting up w/ us!!! We love y'all!!

A Crow Mtn. Run !!

Sunny & Amy made a Crow Mtn. apple run last week & I had my first "go" at apple butter! It was a little messy at first, but well worth it in the end!

THE EGG THING REALLY WORKS!

I WAS GETTING READY FOR WORK MONDAY MORNING. (9/22/2008) WQSB MORNING CREW WAS TALKING ABOUT IT BEING THE FIRST DAY OF FALL OR THE "FALL EQUIONX". SO... THEY WENT ON TO SAY THAT THIS WAS THE ONLY DAY OF THE YEAR YOU COULD BALANCE A EGG ON IT'S END! WELL,.... IT WORKS!!! LOOKY HERE...... JEFF WASN'T TO HAPPY WITH ME GOING THUR THE HOUSE BETWEEN 6-7 IN THE MORNING CHEERING THAT I BALANCED A EGG!!! HEHAHEH

Well, I still can't find that tiny piece of plastic that holds the pic's I took at the Alabama football game on Saturday so, I just gotta rip one from the Internet which is against my better judgement ! (heha) that sounds funny to me!!! We had the best time w/ the Miller's & a ton of laughs, it was the best way to end Jeff's birthday week! I hope they enjoyed it as much as we did!! MOTHER HAD US UP SUNDAY & COOKED LUNCH FOR JEFF TO CELEBRATE HIS BIRTHDAY. WE HAD CHICKEN CASSEROLE, FRIED POTATOES, PEAS & CORNBREAD! IT WAS YUMMY! IT WAS NOT ONLY GREAT FOOD, BUT ALSO GREAT GIFTS! HE SAID SINCE HE WAS ONE OF A KIND, THAT IS WHY HE GETS ONLY ONE OF A KIND GIFTS! SHE GOT HIM A ALABAMA CRIMSON TIDE DOORBELL, ALABAMA CHRISTMAS ORN. & A ALABAMA "TIN" MAN! FOR SOME STRANGE REASON I FIND THE MAN DISTURBING! HEHAHE ! ~ AUNT EUGENIA ALSO MADE HIM HIS FAVORITE PEANUT BUTTER CAKE & IT WAS WONDERFUL AS ALWAYS!

~CRACKPOT FRIENDS~

~THIS IS FROM ONE OF MY MOST TREASURED "CRACK POT" FRIENDS I HOPE IT MAKES YOU DAY AS IT DID MINE ;)

An elderly Chinese woman had two large pots, each hung on the ends of a pole which she carried across her neck. One of the pots had a crack in it while the other pot was perfect and always delivered a full portion of water. At the end of the long walks from the stream to the house, the cracked pot arrived only half full. For a full two years this went on daily, with the woman bringing home only one and a half pots of water. Of course, the perfect pot was proud of its accomplishments. But the poor cracked pot was ashamed of its own imperfection, and miserable that it could only do half of what it had been made to do. After two years of what it perceived to be bitter failure, it spoke to the woman one day by the stream. 'I am ashamed of myself, because this crack in my side causes water to leak out all the way back to your house.' The old woman smiled, 'Did you notice that there are flowers on your side of the path, but not on the other pot's side?' 'That's because I have always known about your flaw, so I planted flower seeds on your side of the path, and every day while we walk back, you water them.' 'For two years I have been able to pick these beautiful flowers to decorate the table. Without you being just the way you are, there would not be this beauty to grace the house.' Each of us has our own unique flaw. But it's the cracks and flaws we each have that make our lives together so very interesting and rewarding. You've just got to take each person for what they are and look for the good in them. SO, to all of my crackpot friends, have a great day and remember to smell the flowers on your side of the path!

farewell to the fisherman!

Dylan came home with us from our 4th of July vacation & fishing trip w/ Judy & Hamp & he has fished almost everyday since then if the heat would allow it! He also went home w/ 2 turtles (sorry y'all) they were the smallest ones it could've been worse! :) He was Cocoa's personal trainer He put her thru the "ringer" most evenings. He's been a lady's man also, he went off to Lake Guntersville w/ Kathy & Jerry & a little gal from New York. Then later on He danced w/ the cutie from Belgium at Aunt Eugenia & Uncle Melvin's 50th ann. party!! Even though he said He wasn't a cowboy he went w/ Aunt Kathy to "cowboy church" & to her place down on the Lake. He's been my guinea pig on trying new dishes. He didn't like the Alabama caviar or the spinach & vegetables medley! (hehae) I did win him over on the Elvis Presley banana sandwich & the pork & beans w/ hamburger meat! I tried to enroll him here at Douglas & he said "My mom will have a fit" (hehahe) We were just picking at you! We love you D-butter & can't wait till next summer! :)
