For you that have been down & fished with us over the summers have seen the pond very low due to the drought!! Well, looky here she up to the "rim" & with "bream" ! It was just in the late summer I would weed-eat, walk around & keep the bank under the pier good & clean! Take a look for yourself!

I'M STARTING MY FIRST QUILT (quit laughin')

Well, I bought a book about a year ago "First Time Quiltmaking" SOOOO... with the help of Hobby Lobby. I am starting my first quilt! It's really their fault cause they had to go & put the holiday fabric on sale! yep, 66% off! Couldn't turn it down! Nope! I was weak! HEHE! It's a smaller quilt, called "Single-Patch" it's finished size should be a "hair" bigger than 36x48. Most of it appears to be very simple, except the "binding" or the edge. I'll keep you posted on it's progress, maybe it will resemble some geometrical shape of some kind when I'm done :) ~If it goes well I may get a call from the "Women of Gees Bend Quiltmakers" a community in south Alabama to join them on tour!

We had a wonderful visit from the Hayes clan late on Christmas Eve in between some of their stops! Miss Maddie was excited & couldn't wait for Santa Clause! We are always tickled to get to see them, that is Doc with his helmet on! He needs it cause he is always getting in to something. Emily just hangs around to see what them 2 is gonna do next!!!! Miss Maddie & me also played a few rounds of Whac-a-mole! You should've been there! Maddie had to take some pictures also, when it was your turn you had to say "CHEEZEEE & WAVE !

CHRISTMAS @ HELEN'S

Christmas eve we went to my mothers, she had everything all "doodled'' up as usual. It's never quite when we all get in the same room together, Jeff now knows where my talkbox comes from! (hehahe) My mothers sister Susan & my uncle JQ were there along w/ my cousins Derrick from Key West, FL & Denise was in from Washington D.C & Shala & Herb lives here in Boaz, as you can see Shala (red glasses) had to jump in with her 2 cents while I was about to take a picture !

~We had a house full of hungry folks! We feasted on crock-pots full of homemade chili & veggie soup & all the snackin's to go along with it! We had plenty of deserts too! The little ones we so excited & helping each other with opening their gifts!

We have gotten over a great weekend & busy week! We was fortunate enough to get to go to Atlanta for the SEC championship game. It was a great game , but the Gators pulled it out in the end. It was very exciting the town was filled w/ fans from both sides & alot from other folks in the SEC. Judy& I roamed & shopped while the boys were gone. It seems like the season went by really fast this year. I hope if your team makes it to Atlanta you'll get to go! It was SO fun & alot of stuff to see & do! ~ROLL TIDE ROLL~

YUMMY TO MY TUM-TUM TUMMY. I REALLY DON'T NEED TO BE LOOKING FOR ANYTHING NEW TO EAT I MUST ADMIT! BUT I'M WEAK!!! :)

~HAPPY THANKSGIVING~

As always we had way to much food! It was great, we had house full of friends & family. The weather was wonderful, after we ate we all went outside to pick up a few pecans. Granny has already took 2 loads to the "pecan cracker" her total to date is 225lbs ! The boys enjoyed throwing footballs/basketballs up in the trees to knock down more pecans. It was so much fun!

WE WENT OVER TO THE MILLER'S SAT. NIGHT FOR GEORGE'S BIRTHDAY & TO WATCH THE TX & OKLAHOMA GAME. WE SURPRISED MR. MILLER W/ BALLOONS & CAKE. HE TREATED US W/ HIS "HOUSE RECIPE" CHILI! HE SPARED US & LEFT OUT SOME OF THE CAYENNE PEPPER! IT WAS SO GOOD!!! ~ WE LOVE YOU GEORGE!!

what a beautiful mess I'm in..

Well.........Jeff told me Sunday night he was going to Orlando and he'd be home Thurs. night late. I had a frontal lobe air pocket & thought since I was off on Tues. for the holiday(VET's DAY) I could knock out the painting job of our bedroom! For the love of Calcutta what was I thinking! So....... I got my paint, a moved furniture in a rage Monday night until about 1 in the morning. Jake & Delora came by & helped for several hours. I primed the walls which was a very odd pea green color! Yikes ! So i was up at 6 a.m. on Tues to go at it again. I was setting at the hardware store at 3 min's after eight to get me a different color to help w/ the green primer, mind you all our furniture is in the LR floor & all the contents of the closets is in a very strowed fashion! So I take a small break at lunch to take mother to get her flu shot, gro. & lunch, while I'm getting her checked out at Wal-MART around 2 Tues my sister/law Judy calls just checking in, she says she just talk w/ Jeff & they'll be home around midnight tonite (tues night)!! SOOOOOOOOOO........... I just have to do the best I could w/ what i could & face the fiddler! He stayed home & worked for 2 whole days while I was at work, we put the last little touch up on it Sunday eve! It was a ordeal, but well worth it I just love,love, love IT! :)

~SWEET POTATO DUMPLINGS~

1 pkg sweet potato patties (cut in half)

2 pkg crescent rolls

2 cups of O.J.

2cups sugar

1 1/2 sticks butter

1 T. cornstarch

1 t. vanilla flavoring

Roll each potato half in a crescent triangle. Place in a baking dish.

Heat OJ,sugar,butter & cornstarch in a sauce pan; add vanilla flavoring.

Pour over dumplings & bake @ 350 for 45 minutes or until crescent rolls are brown.

Sprinkle with cinnamon sugar when done.

YUMMY to my TUM-TUM-TUMMY!!!

We got home from our trip & I got what little washing I had started, when we left I had a 1/2 bushel of Granny Smith apples at the back door. Would you know they was still there when I got back!!! SO....I started 2 crock-pots of apple butter. Jeff was catching up on his college football jargon. He sneaked to the front door & let Cocoa in for a "treat" for me & her too! He thinks I'm not "right" cause we have full conversations! She doesn't bother anything she lays in the kitchen floor & will "wag" her tail. I just decided to join her today!! ~Enjoy! :0)

CHATTANOOGA

WE LOVE TO TAKE A TRIP TO CHATTANOOGA WHENEVER WE CAN SNEAK OFF. YOU COULDN'T HAVE PICKED A BETTER TIME, THE LEAVES WAS EVERY COLOR IN THE RAINBOW. THE WEATHER WAS CHILLY IN THE MORNINGS & JUST RIGHT AFTER THE FOG LIFTED. WE HAD THE BEST TIME DOING ALMOST NOTHING! WE SHOPPED A LITTLE WHILE JEFF "PACED" HUNTING A T.V. IN THE MALL, HE COULDN'T UNDERSTAND WHY THE MAN IN THE SEARS WOULDN'T TURN THE FOOTBALL GAMES ON FOR HIM?! MR MILLER WENT ON A "GOOSE CHASE" (DANG,GPS's) TO HUNT ME A BREAD/BAKERY COMPANY! WE GOT IN THERE & QUICKLY LEFT $$$$$$$ THEY WERE PROUD OF THEIR MUFFINS! IT WAS FUN ANYWAY...MY FAVORITE WAS THE TRAIN RIDE!! WE RODE OVER TO EAST CHATTANOOGA, IT WAS SO NICE!

some of my favorite things...

I will post from time to time some favorite random things! I know you wouldn't expect that of me....... so here it goes!!! I look for these little guys every morning on my way to work! I tried to get a picture the other morning when they got a brand new roll of hay. The little fellows live up the road from me & i enjoy watching them. They probably had wished I didn't interrupt their breakfast for a picture! I got tickled whistling at them, I wanted their ears up in the picture! You can tell where some have been eating & left the holes :)
